1 HaRav Shim'on Agasi, Harnof, Jerusalem, ISRAEL

Founded in 2009, Baalei Daat set out to change the “Yeshiva” concept. Better described as a Jewish Learning Center, Baalei Daat strives to provide a well-rounded education in Judaism that many young adults lacked growing up. The schedule is comprised of four different levels fit for any student from the novice with a strong interest in Judaism to the student that has attended Yeshiva before but not quite found what they were looking for.

The program aims for a balance of Sephardic Halacha, Gemara, Mussar, Philosophy, and Chumash and offers a wide array of electives, from dealing with life’s challenges to marriage and raising children, each from an rabbi  whose specializes in their topic. Recognizing each student is unique, students can take on as many Gemara & Halacha classes as they desire outside of their core learning and are encouraged to make the most of their valuable time.

Catered to English-speaking Sephardic students, Baalei Daat holds classes in Yechaveh Daat, the spiritual epicenter of Har Nof, a community of almost 10,000 residents in the heart of Jerusalem. Har Nof is also home to the Greatest Sephardic sage today, HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlit”a and in fact, our dorms are located directly across the street from his home. Our instructors have been hand-selected, each with years of teaching experience at the best Yeshivot and Seminaries in Jerusalem.

Active in Law, Media/Advertising, Medicine, Technology, E-Commerce, and Business Management, our students have come from Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Canada, London, Miami, Boston and South America. In their free time they enjoy life in Jerusalem, barbecues with the Rabbi’s, playing basketball, going to the gym, and many find more than enough time to work from abroad. Students also enjoy activities like paintballing, camping on the Mediteranean Coast, trips to Tiberias, Tzefat, Ein Gedi, and Eilat and the exciting experience of spending Shabbat with host families where they can work on their Hebrew skills. Without any curfew or attendance, students are expected to have a certain level of maturity and are responsible to attend classes and be on time.

In keeping with the educational goals of our Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Chaim Levy Shilt”a, every student returns to their community a respectable leader, prepared to start a Jewish family and home with the ability to continue studies independently. Through our break-through program, JerusalemEveryWhere.com, Baalei Daat Alumni are also offered live courses online by the same set of teachers they learned with during their tenure here. Not your typical “Yeshiva”, Baalei Daat offers a learning experience not found anywhere else in the world.
